ADOPT A PARK – Kiwanians help clean and maintain Veterans Park one day a month from April through October in coordination with the Naperville Park District.  Typical activities include spreading mulch, helping control invasive species, and cleaning flower beds.

 

 

 

ADOPT A ROAD

Kiwanians pick-up trash along two-mile stretch of Washington Street from 75th Street to Aurora Avenue 4 times a year in coordination with the Naperville Park District.

 

 

AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY

Our members drive cancer patients from their homes to various hospitals and medical centers for treatment as a part of the Road To Recovery Project.

 

 

AMERICAN FLAGS –Members help mount, set-up and take down Flags at the Healing Fields, every third year over Veteran’s Day weekend when it comes to Naperville’s Riverwalk Park.

 

Members participate in helping remove Flags from gravesites at Lincoln National Cemetery the day after Memorial Day each year.

 
 
 
DUPAGE CHILDRENS’ MUSEUM - A Special Kiwanis Thank You https://dupagechildrens.org/2016/09/29/the-volunteer-spirit-of-kiwanis/ Members assist in various projects directed by the museum. The museum is one of the major visitor attractions in the Naperville area.  Club also collects plastic lids and caps once a month for use in children’s creative projects.

 

 

 

EASTER SEALS

Kiwanians help prepare various mailings to donors and prepare gift bags for participants at their annual run fundraiser.  Club also helps put together Easter baskets for gifts to children in the Spring.

 

 

EDWARD HOSPITAL VOLUNTEERISM – Club members participate as volunteers in various Hospital departments, as well for quarterly Mask Fit Testing and Blood Drives and a favorite such as sewing of heart and abdomen pillows for patients recovery after surgery.

 

 

 

FAMILY SHELTER SERVICE

 This is a large DuPage non-profit organization that provides shelter for abused women and children. Members of the Club help maintain the lawn and landscape, assemble materials for their promotional mailings, and collect toys for Christmas gifts for their shelter houses.

 

 

FEED MY STARVING CHILDREN

Kiwanians support this non-profit organization by donating their time and effort to help assemble food packages to be sent to impoverished countries for starving children around the world.

 

 

Food Pantries – Club members participate in food distribution activities at the Loaves & Fishes, Lisle and Plainfield area food pantries.  Kiwanians also collect toilet paper and baby wipes monthly for Loaves & Fishes.

 

 

 

Fundraiser - Project Eliminate: Saving Lives: Kiwanis members and spouses raising money to provide vaccinations to eliminate tetanus from 38 of 59 countries where tetanus kills one child every nine minutes.  

 

MEALS ON WHEELS

Our club helps assist in the preparation and delivery of lunches to senior citizens who are homebound with Naperville Senior Citizens Council.

 

 

MISERICORDIA COLLECTION

Our members assist in the annual collection for the Misericordia children homes in the Chicago area.

 

 

 

MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS WALK – During a walk to raise money to combat Spastic Paralysis, Kiwanians provide administrative support and cook food each year for the volunteers who are participating in the fundraising efforts.

 

 

 

NAPERVILLE LIBRARY VIDEO DELIVERY

Club members deliver videos from the library to area nursing homes and senior centers on a weekly basis.

 

 

 

NAPERVILLE LITTLE LEAGUE – Kiwanians sponsor at least one team each year and attend games to cheer our tem on to victory.

 

 

 

NAPERVILLE PARK DISTRICT – In addition to the Adopt a Park and Adopt a Road items mentioned above, club members also participate in the Garden Harvest in September where remaining produce is gathered for Loaves & Fishes and Santa’s Calling in early December where members call on young children to act as Santa.  

 

 

 

NAPERVILLE SCHOOLS

Club members volunteer to read to students in elementary classrooms and help with tutoring projects as assigned by the school.

 

 

 

SALVATION ARMY BELL RINGERS  

Members volunteer their time to help the Salvation Army during the Christmas holiday season.

 

SPECIAL OLYMPICS

Our members volunteer regularly at Special Olympic Track Meets and Bowling Tournaments to provide coordination and supervision for the participants.
