Committees
In order to carry out all the projects that Kiwanis is involved with throughout the year, each member is asked to join one or more committees.

The Adopt-A-Park Chairperson works with the Naperville Park District to schedule needed clean-up and beautification projects at Veteran’s Park.
Adopt-A-Road Community Service Markowicz, Mike

The Adopt-A-Road Chairpersons work with the City of Naperville to complete four clean-up projects along both sides Washington Street from 75th Street to Aurora Avenue. Pick-up takes about 2 hours.
Audit Administrative Furnish, Paul
Annually, an internal audit of the club's financial records will be conducted by this committee.
Board of Directors Administrative Markowicz, Mike
Provides club leadership and makes decisions on behalf of the club membership.
Bulletin (Editors & Mail Distribution) Administrative Jones, Tom

The Bulletin Editor composes a weekly newsletter recapping the events of the weekly meeting and announcing upcoming events. The newsletter is then e-mailed to those close members who have an e-mail address. It is printed and mailed to club members who do not have an e-mail address.
Cares & Concerns Administrative Jacobs, Louise
The purpose of this Committee is to monitor the health and wellness of club members and spouses, and to make other members aware of any special concerns. Club members are requested to assist by informing the chairperson when they know of a member’s illness and/or progress toward recovery.
Children's Museum Community Service Rose, James

Club members provide services requested by the museum. These may be on-going projects or special one-time projects. Each month (2nd Monday) members are encouraged to bring plastic lids and other “reusable” items to the meeting for use in DCM activities.
Christmas Party Social Activity Rattay, Anita
The Christmas Party provides an opportunity for club members and guests to share holiday spirit. Members are encouraged to make a toy donation to the Family Shelter Services at the party or at prior club meetings.
Club Directory Administrative Voss, Carl
An annual Directory of Club members is published and distributed. This is usually completed in October, to coincide with the beginning of the Kiwanis administrative year
Donations Committee Community Service Mika, Millie
The Donations Committee solicits and reviews requests for donations that are received by our Club. The Committee then makes recommendations to the Board regarding funding of the requests. To help make our donations more meaningful and personal for our members, a special “Donations Night” club meeting is scheduled. Recipients are invited to visit the club and tell our members how our donations money will be used.

Our major activity for Easter Seals is to assist with a mailing for their largest fundraiser. Also, we make Easter baskets for children.
Edward Hospital Community Service Rose, James

About half of our members volunteer at Edward Hospital. Members of the club volunteer for blood drives, special screening programs, and in almost every department throughout the hospital on a regular basis. A group of members meets weekly to sew heart and abdomen pillows that Edward's patients use during recovery after surgery.
Family Shelter Service Community Service Mallory, Floyd

The Chairpersons maintain contact with the Shelter offices in Wheaton and at the Naperville shelter. Work projects are scheduled as requested. Regular Summer maintenance at the Naperville shelter includes lawn care and other yard work. Members donate gifts to the Christmas Collection that will be distributed to residents of Family Shelter.
Feed My Starving Children Community Service Rose, James
Feed My Starving Children was founded in 1987 as a nonprofit Christian organization committed to feeding the starving children of the world. Meals are hand-packed and shipped to more than 60 countries. They count on our club to provide at least 10 participants on the third Thursday of each month to pack meals and place labels on bags.
Financial Management Szewczyk, Stanley
Treasurer and Asst Treasurer are responsible for: 1) managing the collection and disbursement of club money, 2) posting, recording and reconciliation of club financial activity, 3) preparing budget for fiscal year, 4) preparing and submitting taxes for fiscal year, 5) working with Audit Committee for reviews, 6) advising board and membership on financial matters.
House Administrative Mika, Millie
Chairperson works with the hospital catering staff to provide meals for Monday meetings. Committee members record attendance and help serve meals. All new club members are encouraged to join this committee so they can meet other members.
Human & Spiritual Values Administrative Jacobs, Louise
This committee is responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of programs that provide member support and comfort. This committee works closely with the membership committee to integrate members into club activities and existing groups.
Installation Banquet Social Activity Rossolillo, Glenda R.
The Installation Banquet provides an opportunity for a formal “changing of the guard” with spouses and other guests in attendance. The I-I District Governor and/or the Division 21 Lt. Gov. are invited to officiate.
Interclub Administrative Jacobs, Fred
This committee schedules monthly visits to surrounding clubs. We must have at least four of our club members present to make an interclub meeting official. A goal of every Kiwanis Club is to visit each club in it's Division each year, and to visit one club every month throughout the year. A club goal is to have all members to attend at least one interclub during the year.
Inventory Control & Maintenance Administrative Tyo, Thomas
This committee keeps club supplies that are in storage organized and easily accessible. Much of the inventory consists of equipment for our Pancake Festival and Peanut Days fundraisers.
Kane County Cougars Game Social Activity Szewczyk, Stanley
The Cougars Game provides club members and guests an opportunity to enjoy a Kane County Cougar baseball game in Geneva.
Loaves & Fishes Community Service Tyo, Thomas

Members volunteer for a variety of tasks during the week and on Saturday for food distribution. Also, our club makes monetary donations to the pantry for equipment and other requested purposes. The second Monday of the month members bring toilet paper and baby wipes to our meeting for donation to Loaves and Fishes.
Meals on Wheels Community Service Lynch, Ed

This Committee coordinates our work with the DuPage Senior Citizens Council. We assist with the preparation and delivery of lunches. Although a member may elect to do more, participation generally includes a 2-hour commitment once a week/month.
Membership & Growth Administrative Rosenberger, Edward

This committee is responsible for increasing membership through programs to recruit and integrate new members and support and involve existing members. It is responsible for reviewing membership applications and providing recommendations to the board. It conducts an orientation and induction ceremony for new members. This committee works with the committee on Human and Spiritual Values to integrate new members and retain existing members.
Misericordia Community Service Bergesen, John
The Chairperson works with the organizers of the Misericordia Candy Days and schedules club members to work 2-hour shifts at specific grocery stores in the Naperville area to collect money and hand out candy.
MS Walk Community Service Robillard, Stephen
Working with the organizers of the MS Walk, the committee chairperson enlists volunteers to perform needed tasks such as set up and take down, registration and food preparation.
Naperville Library Video Delivery Community Service Price, Chuck
Members pick up videos from the Naperville Library and deliver them to area nursing and convalescent homes. This project is done on Tuesday afternoons throughout the year.
Naperville Little League Community Service Volland, Carl
The Chairperson contacts the team coach, distributes the season schedule and encourage Club members to attend games of the team we sponsor.
Naperville Schools History & Reading/Tutoring Community Service Price, Chuck
Club members visit elementary school classrooms where they read with children or perform other tutoring duties as requested for specific classroom situations.
Pancake Festival Fundraiser Cleveland, Dave

The Committee plans out all the details of our largest fund-raiser. All Club members are expected to participate in the various aspects of Pancake Festival—from the selling of placemat ads, breakfast tickets and raffle tickets to the production and serving of pancakes and entertainment of our guests. Pancake Festival is traditionally held in March.

This Committee schedules and supervises our Club’s participation in Naperville’s Memorial Day and Labor Day Parades.

The committee schedules Peanut Days in May to raise money for Project Eliminate and in the September to raise money for club donations. Club members family and friends are recruited to work shifts at locations in the Naperville area—collecting money and handing out peanuts. All Club members are encouraged to participate.
Picnic Social Activity Marks, Sue
The Picnic Committee schedules and stages a Club picnic—usually in early August. Spouses and guests are invited.

Committee members work to provide interesting speakers, programs or field trips for our weekly meetings. Club members are encouraged to provide suggestions.
Public Relations Administrative Funck, Richard
This committee is responsible for creating public awareness of club activities including fund raising events, awards, and special projects and programs.
Raod to Recovery Community Service Volunteer drivers provide rides for cancer patients between their homes and various area treatment centers, including the Edward Cancer Center. Scheduling of drivers is handled through the American Cancer Society.
Scholarships Committee Administrative Horton, Bob
The committee solicits applications from sponsored Key Club seniors for scholarships. The committee also hosts the recipients and their families on Scholarship Night.

Kiwanis advisers work to maintain a close relationship with faculty advisers and club officers. They attend club meetings, officers meetings and assist with club activities. They communicate activities and service club needs to our members and encourage interaction. Schools supported are Hill Middle School, Metea Valley HS, Waubonsie Valley HS, and North Central College.
Social Media Outlets Administrative Ernst, Diane
Marketing ourselves through social media outlets. Responsible for setup and maintenance of all club online social media outlets.
Song Leader Community Service Graham, Fred

The chairperson chooses songs and provides leadership at our weekly meetings. The committee also schedules sing-alongs at retirement homes.
Special Olympics Community Service Volland, Carl
The Chairperson of this committee works with the organizers of the annual Special Olympics Track and the Bowling Meets. We provide supervision and assistance as requested. The track meet is normally staged at North Central College and the bowling competition is at Brunswick Zone.
Tax Preparation Community Service Markowicz, Mike
Individual Club members assist low income individuals and families (Loaves & Fishes - IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance [VITA]) and senior citizens with their income tax preparation and filing.
Webpage Maintenance Administrative Szewczyk, Stanley
Maintains the club website. Updates page with meeting news and events on a regular basis. Provides training on functional usage to members.
